Union of Philatelists of Serbia (UPS) was founded on August 22, 1948, since then it has been operating continuously. This date is marked as the Day of Philatelists of Serbia.

UPS achieves its goals and tasks through philatelic societies and clubs from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, which are established and registered in their headquarters in the manner established by law.

The goals and objectives of UPS are:

  • Encouraging and assisting various activities that contribute to strengthening the reputation of our philately in the country and the world;
  • Proper recording of all members (of philatelic societies and clubs);
  • Ensuring and protecting the rights and interests of philatelic societies and clubs – members and adjusting their mutual relations;
  • Organizing regional and national philatelic exhibitions as well as international philatelic exhibitions in cooperation with interested institutions;
  • Participation of philatelists in international philatelic exhibitions;
  • Providing work assistance and coordinating joint actions of philatelists associated in philatelic societies and clubs;
  • Publication of the UPS magazine and other professional publications of interest to philatelists;
  • Acquisition and distribution of philatelic magazines, professional literature and other philatelic material for the needs of UPS;
  • Detection and prevention of counterfeiting of stamps and philatelic material.

The activity of UPS consists of:

  • Organizing national and regional philatelic exhibitions;
  • Publication of the magazine “Philatelist” and distribution to all members;
  • Publication of professional literature of interest for the study of our postal history and culture;
  • Distribution of philatelic editions, professional and popular publications to philatelic societies – clubs;
  • Organizing philatelic seminars and lectures;
  • Providing expert advice to philatelists;
  • Organizing auctions, meetings of philatelists and collectors for the purpose of exchange, purchase and sale of surplus stamps and other philatelic material;
  • Coordinating and unifying the work of philatelic societies on the territory of the Republic of Serbia;
  • Cooperation with the institutions of the Post of Serbia;
  • Suggesting themes and motifs for commemorative and regular postage stamps and other issues of the Post of Serbia;
  • Monitoring the work of members and awarding recognition to deserving members and institutions;
  • Nomination of prominent philatelists for public recognition, awards and distinctions;
  • Preventing the distribution of any falsified philatelic material.
